José Luis Gayà talked to VCF Media after the defeat to Celta Vigo, reflecting on the 2-3 scoreline.
The team's performance
In the first half, we showed good discipline off the ball. They're a very good team, we knew that, and we were all very disciplined. We all ran a lot, but then we lacked longer spells of possession. We weren't sharp, we gave away too many turnovers, and that hindered us -because our effort off the ball had been good.
In the second half, with those three substitutions, Celta Vigo improved, and we struggled to adapt. They scored two very quick goals that hurt us a lot, and then they scored a third. We tried, but against such a high-quality side, we couldn't fight back. It wasn't our best performance in the second half.
The team's determination
We wanted that third home win in a row. We were nearly there, but it wasn't to be. We let slip three points that we wanted, for the fans who were cheering us on until the very end. It's a shame, but we're already focused on Elche. We have to keep looking at each match separately; it's three more points at stake, and we're going to give it our all to get them.
Playing with a mask
I always try to help the team. In the first half, I had several incidents with the mask that were a nuisance, leaving a few cuts on my nose. The mask helped protect my cheekbone, and I always tried to help the team, because that's what we're here for: To help.
